Detectorists, BBC4
Anyone watching this, best comedy on telly at the moment, bar none.

It's fantastic. Toby Jones is always great, such as in that TV film about the Stoke mascot a while back. He's too good for TV really but long may it last. And McKenzie Crook has really impressed me, wasn't really keen on anything he'd done since The Office until this (apart from things I may not have seen, obviously).

Re: Detectorists, BBC4
All I detected in the first 4 episodes was Beeb4 preparing to be the home of crap comedy when Beeb3 disappears from the airwaves.

Poor sods won't even have Family Guy, as that's migrating to Beeb2

Re: Detectorists, BBC4
Its brilliant the first series was slightly better.I live in rural Essex where it's filmed and there are a lot of characters that could step straight into all their shoes.

I am watching and it is wonderful. McKenzie Crook is very good but Toby Jones is brilliant. The second series is certainly slicker.

Yes it's good. In fact it's great. But it can't go further than 2 seasons. They have to bring it to a close (and they probably will) with them striking gold one day.

Great stuff. The second series is maybe not as good as the first series but still miles better than most of the crap on the tele.

Subtle, rude, charming beautiful to look at.

Great programme, both leads play it perfectly.

Simon and Garfunkel actually turned out to be Peters and Lee

Very funny. What I'd call quintessential English characters, might have to move out to Saxmundham.

"Love it, very gentle, funny. Love the guys nemisis.

Diana herself (tugs forelock) can be seen in S2 Ep1 as she plays 'herself', i.e. the delectable Rachael Stirling's mum.

And as DukeofDevo said, it's over so quickly. A sign of the qulaity
